Going darker with Neutral, Natural Results
PIGMENT LOCK
Pigment Lock is a technique used in hair coloring to ensure that the color penetrates deeply when you are going more than two levels darker and want a neutral, natural finish. This method involves a specific format consisting of color and water applied on dry hair to penetrate through the hair before applying any developer which will ultimately develop and lock in the color.
Formula
.5 oz KP /77 in your target level
.5 oz KP /0 (any shade in the Pure Natural range, one level darker than desired)
3 oz warm water
Apply the pigment lock formula on dry hair and leave on for 20 minutes. Do not rinse.
Apply 4oz Pastel Developer over the pigment lock. Process for 30 minutes.
Rinse, do not shampoo.
Why A Pigment Lock Works
The first step—applying the pigment and water—allows the color molecules to penetrate the hair shaft in their smallest size.
The second step—adding the developer to begin oxidation—oxidation allows molecules to join together, growing in size--- once the color molecules join together they are locked into the hair shaft.
